I'm willing to trade! My Report date is 14 SEP 2010. But I'll also take any information anyone has.

Are you sure you dont want to go to Cannon? I hear it's "awesome".

I'm sorry man I spent my first 6 years in the AF at Cannon.

Don't worry, if you don't like it you may be able to get out of there in 3 years or less. It may be a little harder nowadays, but who knows? You can either volunteer for a short tour, or a special duty assignment in a few years. In my case I was sent to Offutt AFB, Nebraska in 2001 as my first base when I re-trained into comm. It was definitely not one of my choices, and I was bumming out at first. I always heard the phrase "once you get on it you never get off it". Even though the base and area weren't all that bad after all, I volunteered for a SDA at around 2 years. Even though the TOS for a CONUS to CONUS move was 3 years, I ended up getting the special duty assignment, and was outta there in 2 years and 5 months! So there is hope for you. Just concentrate on the good aspects of the assignment, and have as much fun as possible.

Yea, everyone is saying that. I just want to know what I am going to be doing then, and all that jazz. I still want to cry a little on the inside though. This whole 3DXXX lossing overseas BoPs pisses me off.

My wife got the shaft on this one pretty hard. She really was crying over the whole thing the first day she found out her assignment! We are still trying to work a way into something better, but basically sending us back to the states like this means she will either Palace Chase in the next couple of months or cancel and try another crap shoot for stateside bases even though she will be forced to separate. I have wanted her to get out for a while now. She sees pain, I see dollars signs.

Hey, as long as you make good on your deal and get us to Ramstein like we all talked about, then I don't care if you keep bringing those big sausage pizzas over all the time.

IPCOT? I already called the useless MPF and they told me that I cannot extend here without doing an exemption to policy letter, which I did when I found out I was, once again, being screwed over. So I cannot sign up for a third year.

like i posted on another thread, i loved cannon. 82 steps from my door to the class 6, southern CO was 3.5 to 4 hours away depending on which way you took. amarillo and lubbock were awesome, always got a hold of some good 'ole strange in lubbock down at the "library" on Buddy Holley Ave. dallas and ABQ werent to far away.

now the was way back in the day when i mas a 2A and on the line... the exercises sucked big time, 20+ hours in mopp4 blew, but otherwise i was up in logan fishing on the boat during the weekends.... if it did ever snow, it was only 1 or 2 inches and the base would shut down for a week because no one knew what to do.

It snowed out there? And they do exercises? Are they anything like the ones in Korea?

again all of my info was back when the last F-111's left.... as far as exercises, they made the ones in korea look like a walk in the park. it does snow there once a winter last i remember, and like i said the base gets shut down for a week at a time because of it

Hey I got house for sale there. I left there 2 years ago. It's not as bad as everybody thinks but it's also not that great. I did almost 4 years there before I volunteered for a SD to the Pentagon. Just try to make the best out of it. You are basically going Base Comm, so you could be put anywhere. We went to Lubbock and Amarillo a lot. I have to say that now that I am in the DC metro area I kinda miss the small town atmosphere at times.

I'm from Dyess AFB, so I know about the small town. I'm not sure if I want to buy a house or rent one yet.

DC is weak, If you think that's a metro area try growing up in New York City.
That will make you miss having any sort of moment of silence in your life, lol.
