Whew, glad I got an overseas assignment a few months back. Now I just need to apply for an IPCOT so I can stay here longer.

You're right that they need replacements....so probably what that really means is there will be no spots tomorrow, but double the spots on the next listing. It sucks cause it delays the orders for those folks, but it should still easily beat the time line for returnee assignments, so it should still be ok. I guess that's the debate right now is, do they do a listing just for comm guys in the next couple months or do they just wait until the next cycle and double the listings.

I got 3D0X2. I currently work at the 690 ISS Help desk, does this mean if I PCS I will be placed in a duty that falls under that speciality code? Or am I sitll eligible to work at the Help Desk?

Josh hopefully they just let us use our old AFSC for tomorrow's list and deal w/ placement once we arrive at the next base.

From an email I got: - Per AFPC, all allocations (A FSCs: 2Es, 3As, & 3Cs) that are converting to 3DXXX have been removed from this overseas cycle (Jul/Aug/Sep 10). This is to allow the A FSCs to "settle" prior to matching. This is the 4 Nov cycle. In the next cycle (Oct/Nov/Dec 10), AFPC will work several backfills from the Jul - Sep cycle. Due to the size of the 3D conversion and the potential for confusion in the field, AFPC policy folks are currently staffing an official announcement to be sent to the lowest levels between now and the current cycle going live in AMS.

Sounds like we have to wait for the 3 FEB 2010 list. Will we have priority because we missed a list? Will we be forced to select something from the Jan 2010 CONUS listing? AAARRRRGGGG!!!! so many questions with no answers... I bet AFPC has no clue what to do w/ us!!!!

From the pop-up that comes up when you select Equal Overseas in AMS: ****For All 3AXXX, 2EXXX, and 3CXXX A FSCs... One of the largest AFSC conversions in Air Force history occurred 1 Nov 2009. All 3AXXX, 2EXXX, and 3CXXX A FSCs are directly and indirectly converting to 3DXXX. We cannot provide accurate assignment choices in the Nov 09 OS EQUAL list because of the indirect conversions occurring throughout the month of November. We want to make sure the right person gets into the right location, so we have removed these A FSCs from the advertisement listing for this cycle. The next EQUAL list due out in Feb 10 will encompass the normally scheduled months (Oct/Nov/Dec 2010) as well as additional requirements for the backfill months (Aug/Sep). Emergency requirements prior to the next EQUAL listing will be handled on a case by case basis as needed.

Notice AMS refers to 0X3's as Cyber Security instead of Cyber Surety. At least someone out there agrees that Surety should be Security.

Well, got one for you all. I already have an assignment. Kunsan, leave in March, got my follow-on a month ago, it looks like a Surety(Security) job. I am now a 3D072, Cyber Ops or whatever. I hope my follow-on gets changed. My Chief is looking into it since we have about 20 people leaving next year for Korea. If you want Security, you can have it, I want to stay in ops...we will see

I just hope we're not forced to pick an assignment from the CONUS EQUAL that comes out in JAN. If that happens, then we won't benefit from the "backfill" from the FEB EQUAL... ugh... what a pain...

I cant speak for your situation, but if this is your "first go at it" ( DEROS AUg/Sept/Oct 10) then there shouldnt be a problem as your CONUS returnee assignments won't be until approx 90 days before the 1st month of that qrtrs cycle (1 may give or take)....So this should just be a delay, not really a problem for most people....now it will limit them to one cycle when they sometimes get 2 (based just on Report dates and DEROS lining up just perfect), but they will (in theory) have a larger number of assignments to pick from as well. Anyway, like I say, I don't know your specific situation, so I don't presume to speak for you or tell you "how it is", but thats my view based on the info I have for most people. I have a troop who falls in this cycle, so I am keeping a close eye on this as well. Hope it helps -- Josh

The current EQUAL covers July - Sep 2010, so this should have been my listing. The CONUS EQUAL that comes out on Jan 12 2010, is for May - July 2010 movers so I'm pretty sure that would also be mine. In that case, my CONUS listing would show up before the next OS EQUAL (Feb 2010). Hopefully I'm not forced to pick something from the Jan 2010 CONUS EQUAL without even being able to look at the FEB OS EQUAL. Oh well... I'll just have to wait and see right? Good luck to your troop

For those of us who missed the NOV OCONUS EQUAL... Have you received an assignment yet? have you been told that you'll be able to choose from the FEB OCONUS EQUAL? have you heard ANTHING?! I PCS in JUN and no assignment yet, I really hope I'm not force to pick from yesterday's CONUS EQUAL!!! I really want to be able to check out the FEB list... Crossing fingers!!!

@doogie Did you have to pick from the stateside list from 13 Jan? I was supposed to PCS from overseas on Jul but left my stateside list blank and am waiting for the Feb 3 list to come out. I was told by my CSS that w/ a Jul DEROS I cannot qualify for the 15 April CONUS list for Aug/Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec returnees, and that I would have to have a Command Entitlement assignment (BAD!) Tokahao

This news came out Jan 14 with a Jan 15 suspense date and it sounded like only the JULY folks would be "saved". Needless to say, I wasn't able to process a DEROS extension request in that time, so instead of being told where to go off the CONUS listing, I decided to update my dream sheet... I guess I finally just gave up as I'm not sure If we'll get to pick from the Feb 3rd listing. If I don't have an assignment by then, then I'll most def. update my OVER CCMSGT">SEAS list in hopes to get something. Hopefully it's not too late... We'll see. Good luck to you!
