Looking for any information regarding the purging of SIPRNET accounts at the 6 month mark. Currently looking into an issue where as a member PCSed from another base to their current base. Their SIPRNET account was never deleted so now they're being told that they have to fly to another base to have it deleted so that can have one made at their current base.

If im correct i believe that SIPRNET accounts are to be purged after the personnel has been gone from the base for 6 months. Can anyone verify this for me? If you know of the AFI regarding this please link it to me so i can attach it and run it up my chain.

AFI 33-115V1 NETWORK OPERATIONS (NETOPS)

4.5.4.10.5.4. E-mail accounts will remain active and available for 60 days following a
member’s permanent change of station (PCS). After 60 days the contents of the users
email account will be transitioned by the losing NCC or supporting NOSC to the newly
created email account at the gaining base. After this transition, the old email account will
be deleted and the gaining base NCC will notify the base MPF of the members new email
address for loading into MILPDS. This is a requirement by AF/DP due to the closing of
some base level MPF functions – no airman can be without an email account at any time,
due to it being used by AFPC for personnel matters.

You guys should know better than to discuss ANYTHING regarding SIPRnet on an open, public internet forum.

Google listed several AFI's regarding SIPRnet, but the few I skimmed through didn't say anything about account deletion. Of course, I wasn't about to read through all of them either. Most of them are on the www.af.mil site, but you could try e-publishing also. Regardless, flying anywhere just to get an account deleted is retarded. Especially for a network with only a secret classification. You should be able to transfer all the users email, and then the old base just has to delete the login account. OR, just create him a new account with the same name, and put a 2 or someshit on the name.

It doesnt matter what Google lists.

It is bad practice to discuss anything SIPR related on a public website.

Its the same reason NIPR Remedy tickets about SIPR issues that dont constitute a CMI are deleted and opened in SIPR Remedy.

Period.

I have to agree. lawl is a fag. If it's on a public accessible website that requires no validation of who the users are (www.e-publishing.af.mil) then you can suck it when it comes to what I should or shouldn't say.

Or you can pay attention to what information you release.

FFS...

first off its a blanket DoD policy that AFI 33-115V1 complies with, not a SIPR thing. for that matter, NO ONE IS EVEN TALKING ABOUT SIPR sh*t OTHER THEN THE NOTION THATS THE KIND OF ACCOUNT IT WAS!!!11!1111one /cruisecontrolforcooloff

Heres a crazy idea, read the contents of the thread instead of assuming and bitching based on the subject.

Good f'ing lord I hope you get in a bar fight and a dude shits in your mouth some day

PS: WTFuzz, +1. OP, i dunno why hes gotta fly anywhere... new NCC talk to the old NCC and gg? But ya youre right, even if the member fails to out-process, accounts should be purged periodically to keep AD tidy and comply with regs etc.

Accounts should be disabled and deleted after a period of inactivity.

When I first saw this thread posted, I expected to delete it pretty quick. But seeing as nothing specific to SIPR has been discussed (besides the topic being an account that happens to be on SIPR), I've let it stand.

Mentioning SIPR in a public forum isn't an OPSEC violation. What IS a violation is discussing details associated with that network (information, locations, statistics, etc). Keep it clean, folks. Remember your OPSEC.

I think this dude posting that his base doesn't scavenge old LAN accounts is probably bad OPSEC. Nothing to do with NIPR/SIPR, just bad tech practice and bad OPSEC. Hopefully they have something in place that he just might not know about, or after this thread he goes and makes something. (snazzy epr bullet)

To OP, you guys should be regularly checking for inactive accounts and moving/disabling/deleting them, on NIPR,SIPR, and everywhere else.

And lawl is a fag.

OPSEC is a genuine concern and goes beyond what's pubicaly posted. Think of it from a social engineering perspective. Anyone can go on this site and may now know that this guy has contacts to SIPR info. Next thing you know contacts are made and the little pieces of info come together for the bad guys.

Those throwing out the insults should be ashamed. If you feel the way you do, man up, give me a dsn line and your name and we'll have a conversation face to face and we'll see what you say then!

No one wants to talk to you about OPSEC. We understand the principles of OPSEC, however, I'm not giving anyone anything. E-Publishing is. Here is the Mission statement on the front page:

Quote:
MISSION... is to provide publishing products and services for administrative publications and forms to Air Force customers worldwide.

Provide publications, on an non-secure website, world wide. Putting all the publications in one spot. Maybe you should talk to AFDPO directly, they are the ones who need to hear what you have to say. Here is their DSN number: 754-2438.

Please report back with your progress.

Asshat.

I see what you did there!

PS welcome to the internet. I don't think lawl is too thin-skinned about being called a fag by now.
