I'm a 3D0x2, and thinking of using my cert TA and getting out. I am thinking of going to something like this: click but I'm in California and would prefer not to travel so far. I'd like to get at least the two MCITP certs (EA and SA), and CCNA would be nice on top of it. Anyone seen anything like this out there besides the above link?

Did one...not with them but.... You won't learn a whole lot, but if you go in knowing that and concentrate on passing the tests, it isn't too bad. Got my MCSE and MCITP then came back home and took two more tests to get my MCSE/security and messaging cert. It does require a lot of studying, especially it its only a week long boot camp.

In my own opinion, many boot camp certification courses only skim the surface. However, you might as well use your TA, just make sure you take the course in combination with studying, and preferably using two different books in order to study. That can basically guarantee you a passing score.

I would go one route and stick with it. If you want to be a sys admin then load up the MCSE/MCITP certs. If you want to be a network engineer then go the Cisco route. ( CCNA, CCNP, etc). I wasted 8 months on MCSE and MCSE-S and ended up being a network engineer and working on routers/firewalls and not touching servers. The knowledge doesn't hurt no matter what you are going to do, but that is just my two cents, stick with one path.

Your either in systems, or networks. Its also treated as a risk or security issue by most every company. You dont want the network guys able to administrate the active/open directory domains, and you dont want those administrators admin'ing the route/switch/firewalls. Too much privilege in more than one area is very, very bad.
