I got an offer for a contractor job in either locations today.
Pay seems to be very good being in those locations, but are they getting paid for number of hours?
I am told it will be 12 hour shift and 7 days a week during deployment cycle total of 84 hours a week. I would like to be compensated for number of hours I work.

Was the offer an hourly wage, or a salary?

If it was a salary, did it come with any comments or notations about overtime being compensated beyond the salary (because that's NOT the norm)?

If you have an offer in hand, then you have the details. We don't.

I am guessing that your contract stated a total figure and said it would be paid out bi-weekly. This means you will most likely be earning a salary with a set amount of hours worked into the contract. You should ask what it is because most contractors work 12-18 hours every single day they are there. I still wouldn't be surprised if you found your contract states 40 or 50 hours a week and you end up working free overtime.

What's the number on the salary? Can you really afford to turn down that kind of money? Are you making as much or more now?

I wouldn't think the descision would be too hard to figure out on your own, but since we don't know some key info, kinda hard for anyone to help you with your descision.

I will have a phone conversation with company recruiter and find out exactly how much I will be making.
As a Sr. Systems Engineer (Team Lead/Enterprise Architect in current project), I am doing pretty well as pay wise.
Since I had several calls from few different companies for deployed locations, I started to consider going on a deployment but not for an entire year (my wife and I had agreed for this).
What I received from this company yesterday was for OCONUS status (pre-deployment).
Thanks everyone for your replies. I will find out and let you know the outcome. :)

I got details from the company recruiter. Pay is by hours I will work while deployed and additional compensation on top of it. Total pay is close to what I had estimated, so I am satisfied with their offer. My wife and I are going to talk about it and make decision by Monday. Company still need to submit my resume and contingent offer to government client for their approval, but I don't worry about it. It is just going to be another waiting period. If everything goes smooth, I will be starting in a new job by end of August and deploy by Mid to end of September.
