I was curious if once your enlistment is up, if you can do ROTC and come back with a commsion. Or so do I have to the programs that are offered in the military? I only have 1 year left in my enlistment, and trying to weigh my options before I do anything.

Your supervision sucks.

That is a little mean, but if they haven't helped provide you with this information, especially if you've ever asked or brought it up, they aren't doing their job.

Regardless, off the top of my head there are the following options.

AF Academy - available only if you have no dependents at all. You actually have a better chance of getting in as an enlisted person.
OTS - available to anyone with an appropriate bachelor's degree. Technical degrees are better, and if you are applying for a rated position (pilot or navigator) you have even more chances to get in. Also available to active duty.
AECP - available to active duty airmen who are seeking technical degrees - preferably if you've completed some of the technical courses. The AF pays you as a SSgt while you go to college full-time (including summer semesters). You have to graduate within 3 years and have to attend ROTC. You are commissioned upon graduation.
ROTC POC program - available to active duty. Upon acceptance to the program, you are separated (no you don't have to wait until you finish your enlistment to start.) You will attend a college full-time and participate in the ROTC program. Upon graduation you will be commissioned.

If you insist on waiting to finish your enlistment before you begin, you can simply go to any college with an ROTC program, join the AF part of their program and accept a commission when you graduate.

On another note, how much of your degree have you completed since you've been in? Do you have your CCAF? How many CLEPS have you taken?
You have a great opportunity to get a lot of college knocked out while you are in. The more you finish while you are in, the less you'll have to do when you get out, or the farther you can get on your GI bill. Why waste it on a bachelor's degree if you can knock that out while you're in and use the MGIB for your Master's or Doctorate?

Don't waste your active duty time, leverage it to help you get faster and farther toward your goals.

First step...run straight to either the Base Education Office (BEO) or the Base Career Assistance Adviser (CAA). It is their job to know this information, and they can give you the hard core facts. I say run, because depending on your DEROS, TOS, etc. every second counts and wasted time is never a good thing.
Secondly, check out AFI 36-2013. It specifically goes over OTS and Enlisted Commissioning Programs. It might answer some of the questions/concerns you have.

You do need an appropriate degree yes. Tech degree doesn't matter unless you want a tech job. Odds are there is some guy from a school much better than park who wants in. So unless you have a degree from a good university you may be hurting here, MAY. Rated isn't any higher for AD over civilian. It's easier since you don't need a technical degree. The only bad part about being active duty already is that you have this magical thing that could break you that the civlians don't. Your EPR's. Your good EPR's don't help you as much as you'd think. You walk in with all 5's and you just look average to the board since it's a common misconception that 5's are just handed out for lacing your boots properly, but that bad one will hurt you. Also, have a good GPA. I hate when man hours are put into an app that barely got a C in each class.

I have 72 credit under my belt and yes, I have my CCAF. I'm to the point where if I transfer to another college I will be capped out.

Isn't there an age restriction for an ROTC scholarship. I can't remember what it is now, but I would ask the base ed guys/gals that also. I think it's 25. If you joined for 4 years at age 23, got out and then went ROTC, you're too old...if my mind isn't slipping too much.

Air Force ROTC scholarships are very competitive. I've known a few students who were denied AF scholarships so went Army or Navy instead. I'm not positive of their restrictions, though.

I wouldn't need the scholarship, since I have the GI bill. Unless, the scholarship is part of the wholre ROTC.

Update: I went to the education office and signed myself up for a commsioning briefing. Thanks for the help, guys.

Yes, normally the scholarship is part of the whole ROTC thing. However, there are several scholarships that are 'saved' by the college for those who come into college and then decide to take the ROTC class...and eventually decide on a career. These are normally just 2 or 3 year offers. Approximately $1 million (if not more) of ROTC scholarships that are offered to high school students nationwide are never accepted. This leaves a lot of cash out there for those who change their minds and decide on one once they get into a college. There is always an option fr you once you get there. I would definetely ask about this at the briefing you're going to attend.

another thing, if you qualify for AECP you still get paid, ROTC you don't. Sure makes it easier to study when you don't have to worry about rent more food money.
